What is Master Aaron Cheng's Background?

Aaron Cheng is a Yang's Tai Chi Master. Aaron's martial arts roots began with the knowledge passed down from his family who started working with him in Taiwan in 1963. His training was mainly in the external Martial Arts such as South Shaolin Chuan, Tae Kwan Do and Karate. He earned a 4th degree black belt and was appointed to a military school in Taiwan as a Martial Arts instructor for two years. About 1972, when he began studying Taoist philosophies of Yin & Yang and I-ching Ba Kua in the Department of Chinese Culture of Tunghai University, he was impressed by the profound and traditional Yang's Tai Chi Chuan, and started focusing on the theory and principles of internal Martial Arts. In 1981, he accepted the certificate and the responsibilities granted him as a Tai Chi Master.

Aaron's belief is that "Teaching is the best way to learn and become a proficient Tai Chi martial artist" and "Earn respect by helping others". He had founded and taught Tai Chi at the University of Arizona, Tucson from 1981 to 1984 and Yang's Tai Chi Club in Phoenix, Arizona from 1985 to 1989. In 1990, he joined Boeing Company as a Programmer/Analyst and never stopped his teaching career. In the same year, he started teaching Boeing people in Issaquah and Bellevue. He has established and taught at the Boeing Bellevue Tai Chi Club and the Boeing Kent Tai Chi Club since 1994.

His first goal of teaching is to help others gain the knowledge of Oriental Philosophy, achieve a sound mind and spirit, and to pass the knowledge on to those who WANT to learn. It is very important for a student to find the most appropriate instructor/master. Also, an instructor/master must evaluate the student. This way it can be determined whether their interests and motivations match.

Our mission:
promoting personal health, balance and flexibility.
